Last Month's Self Assignment Winners

Last month's self assignment was to capture images of the holidays.

We want to congratulate both the winners and all those who participated. Thanks to our sponsor, FujiFilm, the winner receives 20 rolls of the Fuji professional film of their choice. The runners-up receive 10 rolls of the Fuji professional film of their choice.  Winners are notified by email.

Winner Dove, Shelley Schipper
"This was from a Christmas tree at work, where I was struck by the symbolism of the descending dove."

To capture the image she used her Nikon Coolpix 995 set at 1/21 sec at f3.8. The flare around the lights was enhanced using the Photoshop plug-in Knoll Light Factory.

Merry Christmas, Angela Holder
Angela put some work and some thought into the creation of this image.

"I placed these items (a candle and two mini trees) in a dark room, lit the candle, and metered off the candle flame for exposure. I shot this photo intending to use it for our Christmas cards this year."

To create the image Angela used her Canon EOS D60 digital camera and Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM lens. Exposure was 1/8 sec. at f4. The only changes done in Photoshop were the addition of the border and greeting at the bottom.

Santa, Greg Yahr
The expressions on the kids faces really make this photo.

"The photo was taken at a local mall where I spent an afternoon with my canon G2 digital looking for holiday images. The image was shot with available light with the camera set at ISO 400. The hand held exposure was 1/13th at f8. After I got home I downloaded the image and added a watercolor affect and border in Photoshop."

Honorable Mention

The Family Mouse, Bob Garas
Bob is a man of few words "Canon G1 digital. Just the family mouse".

I'll admit it. We're suckers for cute critters!
